Why you should Ride the Night

Ride the Night is your chance to see Melbourne in a completely different light, like you never have before. Thousands of __bike riders will turn the streets neon and you’ll get to explore local landmarks and soak up the culture of the city by the seat of a bike.

Luna Park, the MCG, Melbourne Zoo, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Docklands – you’ll see it all.

But that’s not the only reason we do it. Ride the Night is your chance to help young Victorians who don’t have access to the resources and support they require to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Youth Support and Advocacy Service (YSAS) is Ride the Night’s charity partner and provide a support network for highly vulnerable and high-risk young Victorians affected by, or at risk of being affected by, alcohol, drugs, mental health issues and social disconnection.

Andrew Bruun is the Chief Executive Officer of YSAS and has been part of the service since its inception in 1998.

He is driven by being able to connect with and help young Australians who don’t have the resources and support at hand that others take for granted and says “It burns in my guts when a young person is deprived of an opportunity to learn when we know how to help.”

Meet the YSAS team

Everyone who takes part in Ride the Night can help Andrew and the YSAS team by raising funds that go directly to the service.

By riding the night, you not only get to enjoy Melbourne’s brilliance after dark, you also get to help others who aren’t so fortunate.

Ride the Night runs from 9:00pm Saturday 28 January to 6:00am the next morning and entries are now available. Every entrant receives a free rider kit with food and coffee vouchers for the night, a backpack reflective gear including an ankle band.
