Fight for The Ascent's future

We urgently need your help - if we don't hit our 2,000 rider or $195K target by Friday 27 January, 2017, we will not be able to run The Ascent women-only ride in April 2017.

This year, 700 incredible women came together and rode the first The Ascent ride on closed roads in Victoria's Yarra Ranges. It was an unforgettable, life-changing day for those who took part. Many of our team members will argue that they saw some of the biggest finish line smiles they've ever seen. If you don't believe us, click here to check out the photos for yourself.

But as a non-profit, for-purpose organisation charged with the responsibility of turning Australia into a nation of __bike riders, we cannot run the event in 2017 without more riders or a strong financial backing.

So rather than cancelling it - we're fighting for The Ascent through crowdfunding. We're giving it a chance because we believe, now more than ever, that our dream of 50/50 can be a reality.

We're asking any woman who wants to ride 40km, 70km or 100km through Victoria's lush Yarra Ranges, on closed roads, to commit now and pay later. Commit early and you'll only be charged once we hit our target. And we've got to hit that target by 27 January or the ride will be put on hold in 2017.

Here's the prices and remember, you won't be charged until we hit our target:

  • 40km ride entry - $69
  • 100km (with 70km shortcut option) ride entry - $159

Plus, The Ascent women-only ride has an incredible route through the Yarra Ranges and the road closures along with a start/finish line at Cherry Hill Orchards make it even more special and unique. It would be devastating for us to put it on hold.

We're also turning to the wider __bike riding community or anyone who believes in gender equality to take a stand for women's cycling. Take a stand for your mother, sister, daughter, partner, friend or colleague who needs the encouragement, support and community that The Ascent offers to get on their bikes and get pedalling.

We need more than a verbal commitment - buy an entry for yourself, your friends and family or donate any amount you can afford.

Together, let's take a stand for women's cycling and fight for the future of The Ascent women-only ride.

Spread the word- share this page on Facebook or Twitter using #TheAscent #RaisetoRide.
