Australia’s biggest bike group opens office in the NT

Bicycle Network, Australia’s largest __bike riding advocacy group has expanded to the Northern Territory, opening an office in Darwin this week and beginning work to further advance __bike riding in the NT.

Representing 50,000 members across the country, Bicycle Network works to make bike riding easy for everyone and builds towards a healthier Australia.

Bicycle Network CEO, Craig Richards, said it was exciting to set up shop in the NT, which is one of the best places in Australia to ride to ride a bike.

“When the opportunity to set up in Darwin came we jumped, we’re super happy to have feet on the ground here. The NT has one of the highest bike riding participation rates in the country and we can’t wait to get it even higher,” said Mr Richards.

“From working with government to improve bike infrastructure to helping students get active through our Ride2School program, there are plenty of things on the table to make the NT a model for bike riding. We’re really excited to make bike riding easier for everyone in the NT.”

Vice President of the Automobile Association of the Northern Territory (AANT), Grant Fenton, has been appointed by Bicycle Network as NT Development Manager. Having also previously headed up the YMCA of the Top End and NT Farmers, he has strong experience working for community-based organisations and advocacy.

“I’m thrilled to be able to take bike riding to the next level in the NT and make it a prime example of how positively bikes can impact the health and livability of communities,” said Mr Fenton.

Bicycle Network was established in Victoria in 1975 and now has offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart as well as Darwin.
